I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS OUR LAST BLOG FOR THIS CLASS!

1. Having blogged for a year as part of this class, do you think you will continue to blog (either on this one or elsewhere on the web)? Why or why not?

~I don’t think I will continue to blog because it is a bit time consuming and I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up with it! But it was fun and a good experience for this class-I’ve never really blogged like this before! On the other hand, I guess we all kind of blog on facebook? Haha so I guess that would go in the category of elsewhere on the web? (:

2. Having read classmates’ blogs for a year as part of this class, are there any blogs you would continue to visit if their authors continued to post on them?

~Maybe; It was interesting in this class reading and comparing people’s blog prompt answers, I liked it.

1. Speak-I liked the style of writing, characters, plot

4. *A TIE!!* Fahrenheit 451 (I loved the plot, symbols, characters!), The Glass Menagerie (I like plays, good characters), Cold Sassy Tree (very cute, good story, I would’ve enjoyed it more if I had more time)

7. Whirligig-eh I liked how it started out but then it just got worse as the book progressed

8. The Odyssey=vocab quizzes of hell (made it really hard for me to enjoy the story)

9. 1984-confusing, boring

10. Great Expectations-boring, horrible style of writing….lol, I simply can’t stand it, period.

Styles

Even though I don’t have a favorite author I enjoy who has a specific style of writing, I have many favorite styles of writing.

My favorite style of writing is conversational. They more dialogue, the more I enjoy the book. Another style of writing I like is one with surprises. That type of writing usually comes from authors who write (my favorite genre!) mystery such as Agatha Christy, and Carl Hiaasen. The way an author describes things is another aspect of styles I enjoy. I love descriptions, but I do not like the ones that go on page after page about one thing. James Harriot’s descriptions SOMETIMES went on a bit too long , but the stories he writes are writes are great. I love Stephanie Meyer’s way of describing. Her descriptions further entice readers.

Grades

I am planning on maintaining (and improving) my grade in lit by finishing Cold Sassy Tree by tomorrow because I need to get a good grade on that quiz! I have a terrible habit of leaving everything to read the night before and speeding through the chapters without catching little details. Fortunately, I read some last week. Also, I plan to get an awesome grade on my research project by getting more people to do my survey! So, talk to me if you are interested in volunteering (it requires listening to a little section of music and answering questions about it).

The class I need to work hard to get a better grade because my grade isn’t so hot in that class is biology. I am planning on improving my biology grade by getting a good grade on this… wonderfully detailed fourteen page plant magazine that is due this Thursday.yippee

Family Beach Trip

Every summer my family goes on a beach trip. Not just my household, but cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. from different states, too. Sometimes we see some of them throughout the year, but this is a sort of reunion just in case and it’s really fun. We rent a huge house (big enough to fit maybe 20 people?) right on the beach and everyone pays their fraction. Most of the time the kids are on the beach, but no matter what there is always a family member to hang out with and talk to. Every night, the adults and teenagers play a humongous card game while the youngins are asleep. Also, one day of the week, we go to a water park. The beach trip is a fantastic way to spend time and get closer to family. (:

Together or Alone?

I think group assignments are fun as long as it is a small group. When it is a big group, it is very hard to get together and get things done. My idea of an ideal group is a party of two, AT MOST three. That way, there can be numerous ideas and thoughts from two (or three) different brains and there is someone to work with, but there is structure. Getting together with one person is easier and the working would be more diligent than the amount of possible distractions or going back and forth with more than that.

The worst kind of group work (that I experienced too many times in middle school *SCIENCE FAIR*, and many others…) is when YOU DO ALL THE WORK AND YOUR PARTNER DOES NOTHING AT ALL AND YOU GET THE SAME GRADE WHEN REALLY THEY DESERVED A ZERO.

Group (of at most three!) or alone for a major assignment would really depend on the assignment (and the person?). My initial response, though, was automatic: to work alone. If a major assignment is on the line, I’m not sure I would want to depend on half of my grade on how well my partner (depending on how well I know them, how hard they work, etc.) does his/ her part. I would feel more confident turning in what I know I worked hard on and what I know is an A+ worth assignment. On the other hand, if I knew my partner very well and was very sure that they had good work ethic, I wouldn’t mind doing a major assignment with them.

I feel like I’d just be one of the rest of everybody if I said Avatar, but I honestly loved that movie. I saw it with my cousins in California during winter break, and also another time when I came back with a friend at the IMAX and the effects are so cool! I just love the story and messages behind it, too. How many blogs have I written about it?

Others that are on my list would be the Blindside, Up, the Proposal, New Moon (although the books are much better), Star Trek, He’s Just Not That Into You, and Valentine’s Day(deeper and more meaningful than I expected). I can’t really put those into an exact order because they are all so different and I like them all for seperate reasons.

Lacrosse

We are getting into the spring season- the sports are getting intense! Practice everyday from 4 to 6 makes a team very close (not including the team bonding, and secret sis stuff!). We (the JV lax team) had our first game March 5, and we won! Yay! I’m super excited for our Florida trip from Wednesday to Sunday… lacrosse games and Disney World for the Varsity and JV. Congrats to the Varsity for their big wins (including today’s game in which they played a team that they lost to last year). I am looking forward to a wonderful season.

Romeo and Juliet at NHS?

Romeo and Juliet relates to today’s teens. Though maybe not to the extreme extents as shown in the play (for example: the killing), the play relates to many teens; not all, though. The Romeo and Juliet type relationship relates more to middle schoolers because they have not fully matured; middle schoolers are more likely to want to marry or have a relationship with someone because of how they look and after meeting them once. Almost all teenagers, despite whether they are in middle school or highschool, like to break rules and disobey their parents like what happens in the play. An issue that Romeo and Juliet encounter that high schoolers encounter is parents liking their boyfriend/ girlfriend. That is more common in highschool because relationships are more serious then than in middle school. Romeo is not liked in Juliet’s family and vice-versa because their families are enemies. Teens’ parents might not like their boyfriend/ girlfriend because of other reasons.

Love at first sight? More like… “he’s hot.” <–that is not what I call love.

Love at first sight is nonexistent because one must first get to know the person in order to love them, and love takes its time to fully develop. End of story.

*Love is from the inside and out. If you are basing your love only on out part, then you don’t actually love them.*
